So today was Fat-boy-Jim’s first weight-in. He has now been on his diet for 2 weeks and baring the accidental leaving the lid open on the SureFeed for him get the left overs of Rosie’s high calorie food last night, I feel we have done well. We have found how to encourage him to play, we have continued to weigh out his food and feed him using the slim-cat feeding ball so he doesn’t eat it all in one go.
Today he took a trip in to see Abi for his first review… we talked through his progress and how we feel he is doing. Jim’s initial weight was 5.3kg and his first target was 5.1kg. As you can see Jim now weighs 5.05kg. “Well done Jim” I hear you say, “Beaton your target” you cry… Well actually he has lost too much too quickly, we want a slow weight loss to ensure he stays healthy. We think he may have been eating a lot more than we originally thought! This shows how important it is to monitor his progress so soon. I am also concerned he is feeling stressed by a local cat visiting his territory, therefore I am going to get some Feliway to help calm and de-stress him in his home.
Our plan to slow the weight loss is to increase his food allowance by 10% each day and I need to take him back in another two weeks to check he hasn’t lost too much more.
We’ll keep you posted of Slimmer-Jimmer’s progress.
